Not The Apple Of My Pie

My brother and I were at the food co-op, and I was selecting apples to have as a snack. I chose Empire and Baldwin. As I reached for Northern Spy, he said, “That’s for pies.” My hand kept moving forward. He said, “Not an eating apple.”

I picked up the apple and put it in my bag and said, “I will tell you what a college friend told me when I said the same thing. She said, ‘when the apple is growing on the tree, it is not saying, I’m a pie apple.'”
