Before its fateful departure from this planet, my beloved knapsack told me that it wanted its remaining pockets donated to a worthwhile source. And so, as I kissed it goodbye and thanked it for three wonderful years, I also carefully cut the cute zippered pocket I had always loved. I clipped it–and its neighboring pockets–to the inside pocket of my new knapsack.
Yes, I have a new knapsack–actually, a daypack. How exciting that is. We have already become best of friends. It was a long search, a lot like, I imagine, adopting a dog or cat or even a child. I wanted to make sure we were compatible and comfortable together. I did research online and even watched a video. I did research offline, visiting three stores and examining eight brands and about eighty daypacks.
This is my about town knapsack–library books, groceries, swim gear, art supplies, and all of the above. I have enough compartments for everything. Enough compartments so I can misplace things, as I tend to do. Enough pockets so I can forget where they are located (this is why a video comes in handy).
I am grateful to my pocket donor and know it’s in a better place; it was quite holey.
As for my new daypack, I am throwing it a shower. In case you wish to RSVP, I am accepting presents that fit inside my new bag.
