An Incidence of Coincidence

Today is 8/14/14, and I’d like to share with you what I ate at 1428 Alice Street. My friend Judee Fong’s delightful post about coincidence (http://chocofigbee.com/2014/08/03/have-you-ever/) reminded me of the following story that took place at #1428:

A few weeks ago, the San Francisco Chronicle raved about best Vietnamese eateries for Bay Area bánh mì. Fresh and Best II sounded the most enticing to visit. One foggy day I set out for 1428 Alice St. in Oakland.

I chose the 5 spice tofu skin sandwich, recommended by the Chronicle.

It cost $5.25. With tax: $5.72. I gave the cashier $20. My change: $14.28.

Author:

I am a rather obscure 14th C. poet, whose work has been translated into over thirty dialects of gibberish. I now spend my days translating from the gibberish into English and back again, as need be.

  1. that’s a coincidence indeed! Add it all up and you’re left with a single digit of 6. There is no coincidence at all with the number 6. Hmmm.
