Not The Apple Of My Pie

My brother and I were at the food co-op, and I was selecting apples to have as a snack. I chose Empire and Baldwin. As I reached for Northern Spy, he said, “That’s for pies.” My hand kept moving forward. He said, “Not an eating apple.”

I picked up the apple and put it in my bag and said, “I will tell you what a college friend told me when I said the same thing. She said, ‘when the apple is growing on the tree, it is not saying, I’m a pie apple.'”

  1. Lol, I love this, and it’s somewhat true. As much as we think certain ingredients are for certain purposes, it’s not as if the ingredients themselves said so. Eye of the beholder and whatnot (am I butchering the sayings).
